Niiice.

I love the drum work. It's simple at times, but it doesn't get in the way and the fills are perfectly timed, imo. If possible; however, I would change the velocity of the snare hits during the fills to give it a more human feel. Instead of all the same volume, I would make it gradually increase or gradually decrease.

I need to say nothing about the piano shredding. I wish I had your shredding skills. Man, those runs at 2:10+ make my jaw drop.

Epic at 2:52 with the transition. Nice repeated phrases for emphasis. I've gotta agree with you, the ending is better. Cool bass/drum change at 3:25.
Great shit with that repeated phrase at 4:30 on. It's so cool and catchy. Awesome stuff. :D

The only thing I would change is the drums to make them slightly more human sounding.

Nice work, again!

Not much to say on this.
Good job writing in 9/4 without making it obvious. To me, that is the hardest thing of this song. This song really reminds me of the Mars Volta at moments. I really, really enjoyed listen to this. Was the quality supposed to be sorta distorted.
Man, i just can't get over how well you used 9/4. Great.. great job.

Amazing.

Iono what the dude down there is talking about not hearing the blues.
This IS the blues, and its beautiful. The flourish at 0:10 put a knowing smile on my face, heh. That was some song, man!

Long live minor blues! Try and get some really classic stuff in there:

ii7(b5) - V7(b9) - i(Ma7)

Its the classic minor 2-5-1, but use it when you are modulating between chords in minor blues, you will cry listening to it, lol. It's amazing. I ought to record some of my jazz stuff. :p

Awesome!!

Holy shit, man.. I love your classical rock. Please make more, like I'm not even kidding. I haven't heard such fucking cool classical rock.. ever. Bach would smile from his grave, hehe. This is time well spent, btw. I fully appreciate what you are doing here!

Oh and about what you said, "I'm not gonna let it make me paranoid and I'm just gonna live my life."

That's how I live my life, lol. Nice.

Great transitions, instrumentation, drum work... just everything. It melds together great, just one thing. At 0:26ish to 0:49 the 16th hi hat hits are kinda loud, imo. Maybe a tiny thing to look at.

Hah, cool!

I play vibes as well as piano, and the beginning made meh happy. :D The opening is cool, I enjoyed it.
However, as dumb as this might sound to you (as well to others), I'm really not a huge fan of Thelonius Monk... Don't kill me! I really like jazz pianists like Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett, and Dave Brubeck. They are my piano heroes. :D
I have to say, that distorted guitar really doesn't fit :( That's why you get a 9 instead of a 10. I can't say I've heard distorted guitar like this in jazz before. I think a sax or trumpet could just as well play that melody, except with more color and style. Just my few cents. :D

Awesome.

It's nice to hear a remix of MGMT with lyrics.
I enjoyed this thoroughly.
The fast background synth at 0:45, 1:15, so on could be more powerful.
Nice drum work, and I like that sliding synth thing at 1:40 and throughout the song.
MGMT wins!

thx for the review man im glad to see more fans of mgmt, they're awesome!

Daaamn.

This is amazing!
Everything is perfect, I couldn't nitpick if I wanted to. :D

Sounds.. like anger.

I don't think I've heard a song with much more raw emotion.
It makes me jittery just listening to it. The counter rythyms are just crazy!
Really cool song, the block chords at 2:00 make my head hurt in a good way :D

One of my favorite bands is the Mars Volta. If you have an affinity for cool time signatures, check em out. Listen to Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus and Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt. 27/16 and 11/8 are some cool time signatures in those songs. There's others, but those songs are just amazing. Every time i listen to one of their songs I hear something new.

adompeace responds:

I've been getting into Mars Volta lately. Great band. Didn't listen to those songs. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yay for DDR.

Yay for Hot Limit! :D

LOL.

This is horrible, and I don't know why I am laughing so hard.

VioletVulpine responds:

Because it's funny.
